Insurance
In the Netherlands, Stuyf vehicles and the BSO bus must be insured at least for third-party liability. A special Stuyf insurance policy has been developed together with the insurer Steijnborg Assurantiën.
When purchasing the Stuyf or BSO van (in The Netherlands), you can indicate on the order form whether you wish to insure the vehicle with Steijnborg Assurantiën, or with an insurer of your own choice. If you choose Steijnborg, we will apply for the insurance in advance. Upon delivery your Stuyf or BSO bus will then be insured and can be driven immediately after completing a driver’s training.
When you choose lease (Pickup or Cargo) or a subscription (BSO bus) the insurance is included in the monthly fee. Upon delivery, the vehicle is then insured and can be driven immediately after completing a driver’s training.
Coverage
The insurance has third-party and comprehensive coverage. Both third party and vehicle damage are covered. An excess applies to damage to the vehicle.
The insurance of the BSO bus also has damage-injury (SVI) coverage, with a maximum insured sum of €1.000.000. The fixed policy period for the insurance runs from May 1 to May 1 of each year.
The insurer determines the insurance premium by looking at the purpose for which the vehicle is used, such as for transporting children, package delivery or municipal cleaning duties.
Terms
The insurer sets the following conditions for driving the Stuyf or BSO bus:
- A BSO bus driver must be at least 18 years old. For the Stuyf, that age is 16.
- A driver must have successfully completed theory and driving skills training focused on the Stuyf or BSO bus. This driver’s training can be requested from Stichting Veilig door het Verkeer. More information on driver’s training for the Pickup and Cargo and for the BSO bus.
- Annual maintenance for the BSO bus is required.
- The law also requires drivers of the Stuyf Pickup and Cargo to have at least driver’s license AM or B and wear a (approved NTA 8776) moped or speed pedelec helmet .
