You will learn, among other things:<\/p><ul><li>The operation and control of the BSO bus<\/li><li>Accelerating, braking, and speed control<\/li><li>Control: steering and direction<\/li><li>Safety protocol<\/li><li>Determining a safe route (from after-school care to school)<\/li><li>Hazard recognition and traffic behavior<\/li><li>Learning to recognize and avoid dangerous situations<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">The practical training is led by a driving instructor from a driving school. These trainers are WRM-certified (licensed to teach driving lessons).<\/div><div data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">The BSO bus training consists of half an hour of online theory and approximately two hours of hands-on training per two trainees.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ec1779f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ec1779f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Part 3: Certificate<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d2eb703 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d2eb703\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">After the practical training, the trainer assesses whether you have sufficient traffic awareness to responsibly transport children with the BSO bus. This is personalized and serves as your &#8216;driver&#8217;s license&#8217; for the BSO bus.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5a8ab4e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5a8ab4e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Method of booking<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2d51d48 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2d51d48\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol><li>An after-school care center or childcare provider registers for driver training with the foundation through <a href=\"mailto:info@veiligdoorhetverkeer.nl\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>info@veiligdoorhetverkeer.nl<\/strong><\/a><p>Please include the following information in the email:<\/p><ul><li>At what location should the training take place<\/li><li>How many employees do you want to train?<\/li><li>Preferences for days, times of day and\/or dates?<\/li><li>Is there already a BSO bus on site?<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The foundation sends the e-learning link to the after-school care center. Students can register and complete the e-learning.<\/li><li>Meanwhile, the foundation seeks an affiliated driving school for the center. To ensure that all vehicles on public roads are safe, they must meet certain technical admission requirements. In 2020, the BSO bus was admitted to public roads (in the Netherlands) by the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management in the vehicle category &#8216;special moped&#8217;.<\/div><div data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">Within this category, a vehicle may have 8 seats or passengers. To transport 10 children, a covenant was concluded between the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management and sector organizations for childcare.<\/div><div data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\"><em>The agreements apply to ALL BSO bus drivers, not just members of industry associations.<\/em><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed84f5c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ed84f5c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Covenant agreements<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1bcdfa0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1bcdfa0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-pm-slice=\"1 5 []\">10 children may be transported on the BSO bus provided that:<\/p><ul><li>Drivers are at least 18 years old.<\/li><li>Drivers have successfully completed driver training and can provide proof of this.<\/li><li>Each after-school care location maintains a record of <strong><em>safe route usage, maximizing<\/em><\/strong><em> <strong>the use of<\/strong><\/em>:<ul><li>bike lanes separated from high-speed roads<\/li><li>roads with a 30 km\/h speed limit<\/li><li>intersections equipped with traffic control devices (e.g., traffic lights)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c461e6e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c461e6e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">from January 1, 2026: 8 seats instead of 10<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ca2cac0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ca2cac0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">On December 3, 2025, we received notice from the Ministry of IenW about an upcoming regulatory change that affects the BSO bus.<\/div><div data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">&#8220;The Minister has agreed to proceed with an amendment to the regulations (the Vehicle Regulations). This amendment provides that as of January 1, 2026, <strong>all BSO buses<\/strong>, including those currently in use, may have a maximum of 8 seats.&#8221;<\/div><div data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"mb-1 mt-2 whitespace-pre-line leading-relaxed first:mt-0\" data-sentry-component=\"P\" data-sentry-source-file=\"p.tsx\">How to implement this in practice is something we are currently researching.
